    BAL 23505. Inscribed in ink by the author, who died in 1928 at age forty-three: "Maxwell Bodenheim/from Elinor Wylie." Bodenheim, the American novelist, was ten years Wylie's junior. Best known as a poet, this was Wylie's second novel, sometimes called a philosophical fairy tale.
