Shoemaker 27559. One of the great physicians of the first half of the 19th century in America, the outstanding surgeon of the period, and a leading figure in the development of medical uses for anaesthesia.

Evidently some copies of the book were sold without the three leaves at the end containing Josiah Coffin's first deposition in the case of a physician's malpractice.
