By Benauly [pseud.]. New York: Mason Brothers, [1855]. 1st ed. 8vo. 456 pp. Illustrated. Contemp. calf backed marbled boards. Text browned, otherwise very nice. $750.00

Wright II, 257. Hamilton 700, identifying Carl Doepler as the illustrator of the frontispiece, and probable illustrator of the remaining engravings. With eleven original pen & ink sketches tipped into the text at appropriate points, evidently made by Doepler, and kept in this copy by Austin Abbott, whose signature appears on the free endpaper.

The authors were three brothers from whose first names the pseudonym was composed.
