A farmer and blacksmith, Waters came to Calais from Charlton, Mass. in 1807. The sketch of Calais occupies pp. 5-12 here. The miscellaneous snippets include recipes for a varnish and a washing fluid, short accounts of Universalists and Shakers in Charlton, Jews ("a very honest, ingenious, well-informed people") and other religious sects, &c.  Not in Singerman.
