    BAL 19625. R & B 44-6021. Taylor began to write poetry at age seven and at 19 was encouraged to publish the present volume by Rufus Griswold. Travelling in Europe at the time of publication, Taylor returned home to find himself famous. Sabin 94441 considers this of early Western interest and, of course, Taylor is best known today for his Gold Rush classic, El Dorado.
